Today I present my original composition, DEATH.  I completed this song in 1990 and scored it for soprano and piano.  Below is a screenshot of the title page from the autograph score:

Today I present my original composition, THE BEAST AND THE BUTTERFLY.  I completed this piece in 2006 and scored it for piano.  Below is a screenshot of the title page from the autograph score:

I once watched a Japanese family transform a greasy, garbage covered patch of earth into a small and delicate garden.  It was while watching this family’s struggle to bring a thing of beauty to a street overrun by motor vehicles, trash, and filth that I conceived this work.  I composed this piece using the traditional Japanese IN scale--one of my favorites.

Upon considering the surprising dearth of music for bowed strings played without the bow, I resolved to compose this little piece for folk fiddle.

Today I present my original composition, DANCE FOR MARIYA.  I completed this piece in 1987 and scored it for harpsichord.  Below is a screenshot of the title page from the printed score:

I composed this keyboard music for my sister to use in ballet practice.  This very early attempt at score music is rather rough in its construction.  It is a fusion of the various styles and techniques I was studying at the time.  Consequently, the listener may notice some awkwardness in my budding craft.

Today I present my original composition, SING WITH ME THE EARTH.  I completed this piece in 1992 and scored it for choir and piano.  Below is a screenshot of the title page from the autograph score:

I here pursue my favorite subject—Nature in all her forms.  This composition for full choir and piano, SING WITH ME THE EARTH, is my setting of the first three lines from my father's poem of the same title.

In this piece I imagine myself represented by the piano entering Nature's realm.  As I wander the forest green, I hear the blessed sounds of the Wild calling to me.  As the music unfolds with sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses layering upon each other in fugal fashion, the piano gradually builds in rapturous excitement until it finally runs free in bucolic bliss.

This early trifle for string orchestra represents one of my numerous musings on subjects of personal importance.  There is nothing significant here--just a momentary dream of being on the wing.
